A Quick Update

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

The last couple of days have shown more progress on the house, and it doesn’t seem as if it will slow down for now…which helps Matt and me to keep in good spirits. :) There has been quite a bit of work done for the heating and air conditioning system and the plumber continues to put in the pipes needed throughout the house. We met with the electrician this morning and spent a little over an hour with him, deciding where we want switches, outlets and data lines and letting him know what lights we’ve chosen for each room. He said he’ll start working on wiring tomorrow and should complete his first round of work by Monday. Also, while we were at the house with the electrician, a follow up framer arrived to complete the things the larger framing crew didn’t do. He started work immediately on our deck (got the floor joists up for that) and he also finished framing the ¾ wall that’s needed for the breakfast bar in the kitchen. We were told by the plumber that the follow up framer will also complete the installation of doors, so hopefully all of that work will be completed within the next week or two as well.

Thank goodness for a nice cool down that’s here this week. It’s a refreshing break from the humidity…I think I’m just ready for fall.

Only 56 more days in the apartment. My countdown is officially beginning. :)

Welcome Wyatt Kirby!!

Today, my sister Natalie brought the newest member of our family into the world!  Wyatt Kirby Roesler was born at 6:49 pm, weighing in at 7lbs 12oz, measuring 20 inches long.  Natalie’s due date wasn’t until early July, but with the amniotic fluid decreasing in the womb, her doctor decided to take the baby this evening via c-section.  Congratulations to Jake and Natalie!!  And welcome to our family little Wyatt Kirby!!!

Also this evening, Carter attended his first ever music concert.  The children’s museum here in Lincoln has free concerts every Thursday evening this summer and tonight we met our “sign, say, and play” buddies – Nora and Parker – and their parents, of course to partake in the festivity.  After eating some pizza and listening to a few songs, we all headed into the museum to play and enjoy the air conditioning.  :)   All in all it was a fun time for everyone.

I also swung by the lot tonight and was once again pleasantly surprised to see that the molds for the walls were up and the foundation walls had been poured – yay!!  Here are some pictures of that -
