Matt, Carter, and I went to Wilber yesterday for lunch with my parents and to spend some time with them, which resulted in me shooting my bow for the first time in over a year. One would think that by hauling Carter around all of the time my arm muscles would be fairly decent, right? Wrong. I tried to pull my 49 pound (yeah, I’m a whimp, I know) bow back, and just about pulled a muscle, but luckily both my dad and Matt were nice about it by not making fun of me. Instead they were quick to help me get it turned down to 42 pounds which seems to be much more manageable for now. Hopefully in time I’ll be able to crank it back up again, but for now I’m just happy to get out and practice with my bow again as I’m really looking forward to deer season this year. I skipped it last year since I was worried I’d trip and fall and harm our little one with me being so top heavy and off balance.
Last week I finally took some time to pack my maternity clothes away into boxes and pull my pre-pregnancy shirts out of storage. While I was at it, I decided to try on my pre-pregnancy jeans to see if they were fitting any better and much to my surprise they fit!! So, for me, it is true what they say – - your hips expand during childbirth, but they will eventually return to a somewhat normal position. Seems like something silly to be excited about, but nevertheless, I’m really happy about it.
Yesterday after we got back from Wilber, Carter had his first “clingy/needy” evening, in my opinion. I’m not sure if it was because he had a weekend of spending time away from home as well as out of mom & dad’s arms (he spent a lot of time in his car seat and with grandparents, aunts and uncles throughout the weekend) or if it was because he didn’t get good naps for the whole weekend, but he did not want to be set down for very long at all and I ended up carrying him around the house with me while I tried to do the housework I needed to do. He just snuggled up on me and hung out without squirming…even while I was vacuuming. It was a pretty good feeling – knowing that by being in my arms he was comforted and felt secure, but it makes me think that maybe full weekends need to be few and far between. Because Matt and I have no problem handling them, but they can sure tucker the little guy out!
When Carter took his bath on Friday, we couldn’t help but get some photos of the little guy in his froggie towel. Thought I’d share.
And here’s another photo from last week that I like…
